Bullies Posted This Picture With A Terrible Caption, So Her Mother Responded.
Bullying is a serious problem, but sometimes it doesn't get enough attention.
Many parents are unaware that their sons and daughters are victims, and many school administrators don't see bullying as a big problem.
Jackie Winters is hoping to change that. She was recently outraged when she found out that a picture of her daughter was sent out to other teens at Queensbury High School in New York with an ugly caption making fun of her weight.
"She's very weight conscious," Jackie explained to ABC 10 News.
Mrs. Winters decided to take action. She posted the picture on Facebook, caption and all, along with a post alerting other parents to the issue.
"For many many years my daughter has been bullied. We go to the school we get the same 'lecture' about zero tolerance for bullying," Jackie wrote.
"It seems to subside or my daughter deals with it without saying much to us. Today we received a call from my daughter who could barely utter words because she's so hysterical that its happening again and now it's taking to another level of posting it throughout social media. We are devastated.
"We are not going to stop even if Brittany says everything is fine. Her fear is that if she tells someone the bullying will get worse. I will not have this happen or continue to happen to my child."
Now, Jackie's working with school administrators to make sure that this doesn't happen again. See ABC 10's report on the situation below.
